Oldfield Road, Bath

The Brief

To reconfigure and modernize a three-bedroom terraced house in Oldfield Park, including the installation of a loft conversion to create an additional bedroom, bathroom, and storage.

The Project

What initially seemed like a relatively straightforward loft conversion turned into a much more complex process due to several factors:

1. National lockdowns.
2. Significant architectural and surveying errors that slowed progress and required substantial design changes.
3. The poor condition of several elements of the property, including the roof, floors, and all walls. At one point, we had to remove the roof, strip internal floors, and completely renovate using the original but unfortunately flawed shell.

Our remarkable clients demonstrated incredible patience, understanding, and grace throughout these challenges. In return, we have strived to make the process smoother through clear communication, timely advice, support, and cost-saving measures. We went the extra mile to assist with what would have otherwise been an almost impossible undertaking.

We take great pride in this project as it exemplifies our approach and work ethic. For us, it’s not just a job or a profit-driven venture. It’s a personal and intimate relationship when you spend so much time together. We bring our personal morals and ethics to our work.

While we don’t claim to be martyrs or saints, each of us is involved in humanitarian or social projects, and we aim for job satisfaction by knowing we’ve put our clients first.

This relationship is a two-way street, and we’ve been fortunate to work with some truly wonderful clients. After some less pleasant experiences, it’s not a coincidence that we’ve had the privilege of working with such fantastic individuals. If asked, we would gladly work for these clients again.
